Brian Cambi, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine (Cardiovascular Medicine) at Yale University and serves as Medical Director of the Yale Heart and Vascular Center at multiple hospitals, including L+M Hospital and Westerly Hospital. He leads the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Lawrence+Memorial Hospital and directs the Yale Primary Angioplasty Program. Dr. Cambi pioneered the interventional cardiology program in New London in 2008, expanding access to emergency angioplasty, stenting, and advanced vascular procedures for patients in the region. His clinical expertise spans general cardiology, nuclear cardiology, and echocardiography, with a focus on coronary artery disease and interventional cardiology.
Education: MD from SUNY Buffalo (1999, summa cum laude) and BS from the College of William and Mary (1995, magna cum laude). He completed residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital and fellowships at Yale School of Medicine (2006–2007).
Research interests include cardiovascular imaging technologies (IVUS/OCT), clinical outcomes of PCI for myocardial infarction, and preventive strategies for cardiovascular complications in high-risk patients. Notable research includes the COLSTAT trial exploring colchicine/statin efficacy for reducing severe COVID-19 outcomes.
