Bonnie Evans

Bonnie Evans is a Lecturer in the History of Medicine and Health at the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine (CHSTM), Manchester University. Her research focuses on the global history of child psychology, developmental neuroscience, and the formation of modern identity. She holds an MSc in Economic and Social History (History of Medicine) from Oxford University and a PhD from the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at Cambridge University.

Evans co-founded the interdisciplinary Health and Welfare Research Group at CRASSH, Cambridge, and held fellowships at King’s College London and Queen Mary University. Her 2017 monograph, *The Metamorphosis of Autism*, examines child development in 20th-century Britain. Current projects include a new book with Reaktion Press and collaborations on cinema and psychology. She advises policymakers, media outlets like the BBC, and institutions such as the UK Department for Education.

Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals addressing global health and education. Awards include a Wellcome Trust Research Fellowship. Her research spans film’s role in psychological studies, child identity, and the intersection of science, policy, and media.
