Dr. Bonnie Evans is a Lecturer in Media Studies at the University of Queensland's School of Communication and Arts. Her research focuses on intersections between feminist politics and screen media, particularly in horror, true crime, and gender representation. She teaches film/television studies, media studies, and digital media.
Research Interests:
- Feminist media analysis of horror and true crime genres
- Gendered violence representation in media
- Embodied spectatorship and trauma
- Fourth-wave feminist cultural critiques
Her recent work analyzes Corale Fargeat's Revenge (2017) and examines correlations between contemporary feminisms like #MeToo and audiovisual media. She co-authored a 2022 study on consent education in tertiary institutions.
