Bo Bian is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business. His research focuses on empirical corporate finance, examining how legal and regulatory frameworks influence productivity, innovation, entrepreneurship, and the digital economy. He has published in top journals such as The Review of Economics and Statistics and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, earning awards including the INFORMS CIST 2020 Best Paper Award. His work often explores cross-border institutions, creditor protection, and the globalization of innovation.
Key research themes include the impact of data privacy regulations, financing challenges in electric mobility, and the ripple effects of data sharing restrictions. He has presented at leading conferences like AEA, WFA, and EFA. His teaching includes courses on applied financial markets and advanced empirical corporate finance at UBC, along with roles at London Business School.
