Minjia Li is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Alberta's Alberta School of Business. She holds a PhD from UBC Sauder School of Business, an MS in Finance from MIT Sloan, and a BA in Economics from Wuhan University. Her research focuses on archival studies in financial and managerial accounting, emphasizing climate change, supply chain management, executive compensation, and political economy. She has received prestigious awards including the 2024 WFA Brattle Group Award and the 2023 IMA Research Grant.
Dr. Li teaches managerial accounting at both undergraduate and MBA levels, with notable teaching evaluations (4.8/5.0) and recognition via the UBC Paul Chwelos Teaching Excellence Scholarship. Her work has been presented at top conferences like the NBER Executive Compensation Conference and the Western Finance Association meeting. She actively serves as a reviewer for leading journals including The Accounting Review and Journal of Accounting, Auditing & Finance.
Her research grants include University of Alberta-funded projects and the UBC Sauder EDI Catalyst Grant. She has organized academic events such as the Sauder Woman Scholar initiative and participates in global research networks like the Contemporary Accounting Research Conference.
