Bill Hodgetts is a Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Alberta. He holds a joint appointment at the Institute for Reconstructive Sciences in Medicine (iRSM) as Program Director for audiology and bone conduction amplification (BCA). His work focuses on improving outcomes for BCA users and addressing psychological factors affecting hearing healthcare adoption.
Research Interests
Bill’s research explores the intersection of audiology and psychology, particularly how cognitive strain from hearing loss impacts brain function and well-being. He investigates pathways to enhance hearing technology uptake and adherence, emphasizing trust in clinician-patient relationships. His recent article highlights the cognitive and social consequences of untreated hearing loss.
