Beverly Trask is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre & Dance at Tulane University, affiliated with the Stone Center’s Caribbean Research program. She holds a B.S. (1970) and M.F.A. (1977) from the University of Southern Mississippi. Her academic career at Tulane spans over four decades, including roles as Instructor (1979–1981), Assistant Professor (1989–1996), and Associate Professor (1996–present).
Her research and creative work focuses on Afro-Caribbean dance performance, jazz/tap traditions, and modern dance. She has received notable awards such as the Gambit Award for Best Choreography (2009) and Tulane’s Outstanding Teaching Award (1999). Her professional engagements include choreographing for the Newcomb Dance Company’s 16×16 project, acting in productions like *Cabaret* and *Oklahoma*, and directing *Women in Motion* at Femme Fest (2006). She co-coordinated the Katrina Warriors initiative at Tulane (2006) and contributed to Louisiana’s Superintendent’s Task Force on Arts Education (1990–1991).
Trask’s interdisciplinary work bridges performance art, cultural studies, and community engagement. She remains active in New Orleans’ theater scene and academic leadership.
