Bevan Walsh is a Lecturer in the Department of Literature Film and Theatre Studies at the University of Essex. As an active filmmaker and director, his creative practice explores themes of identity, sexuality, and masculinity. His professional background includes behind-the-scenes film production work before transitioning to directing fiction films.
His short films have garnered international recognition, including a British Independent Film Award nomination for 'Love Does Grow on Trees' which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. His work has been featured at international film festivals including Seoul International Short Film Festival and Buster International Children's Film Festival.
Current projects include developing feature films that continue explorations of identity and masculinity through narrative cinema. Walsh maintains active engagement with film industry practices while teaching filmmaking courses at Essex.
