Laura Green

Laura Green is an Associate Professor at the School of Cinema, San Francisco State University. She specializes in documentary filmmaking with a focus on healthcare and social issues. Her work explores themes such as rural healthcare access and physician shortages in America.

Her research interests center on using documentary film to highlight underrepresented healthcare challenges, particularly in rural communities. Her feature-length film The Providers premiered at the Full Frame Documentary Festival and was selected for the American Film Institute’s DOC Impact Labs, garnering praise for its soul-affirming portrayal of healthcare providers in New Mexico.

She has taught at institutions including Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and California College of the Arts. Her editing credits include the feature documentary True Son (Tribeca Film Festival) and the web series The F Word.
