Carlton Daniel, Jr. serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Television, Film, and New Media within the School of Theatre, Television, and Film at San Diego State University's College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts. Their acclaimed work as a writer-director focuses on the nuanced experiences of Black and LGBTQIA+ communities through narrative films spanning drama, romance, and horror genres.

Notable works include the award-winning short film "Monogamish" and "Homegoing", which earned a $40K production grant.
Grants and Current Projects:
They secured a $40,000 production grant from CNYArts for "Homegoing". They are developing a feature adaptation of "Homegoing" (selected for the Outfest Screenwriting Lab and AT&T & Tribeca Film Festival’s Untold Stories competition) and are in post-production on the short film "Fly". Their episode "Rebecca" for "Bite Size Halloween" premiered at the Urbanworld Film Festival and streams on Hulu.
