Caroline Liem

Caroline Liem serves as an Assistant Professor of On-Camera Acting in the Theatre Department at Oklahoma City University. With extensive professional experience in the entertainment industry, she brings real-world expertise to her academic role. She is also the co-creator of Pace University's BFA Acting LA Intensive program, demonstrating her commitment to bridging academic training with industry practice.

Ms. Liem holds an MFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BA from UCLA, providing her with strong academic credentials to complement her industry experience.

Her professional interests center around casting direction, acting coaching, and diversity initiatives in entertainment. She has developed specialized expertise in audition processes, creative entrepreneurship, and navigating the entertainment industry. Her work emphasizes belonging as the bridge between diversity and inclusion, where artists feel seen, heard, and celebrated. Through her coaching practice, she helps creatives 'stop battling themselves and lean into all that their great training has prepared them for.'

Ms. Liem has served in leadership roles including Vice President of Casting Society and Vice President of Advocacy. She co-founded 'The Alliance' to support historically underrepresented casting professionals. Her recent casting collaboration 'I Woke Up A Vampire' was a Canadian Screen Nominee, and 'Bienvenidos a Los Angeles' garnered top honors at the Cannes Film Festival's 2023 Diversity in Cannes and was Oscar short-listed for 2024's Academy Awards.

As an educator and industry professional, Caroline has shared her expertise with prestigious institutions including The Juilliard School, NYU Tisch, The New School, Syracuse University, and the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently producing a film described as 'a love letter to the rom-com' and co-hosting the podcast 'In The Podlight: Illuminating Creativity,' which explores the post-pandemic entertainment landscape.

Her professional journey spans over 25 years, with casting credits including major films like 'Gone in Sixty Seconds,' 'Pearl Harbor,' 'X-Men 2,' and television shows including 'American Horror Story' (early seasons), 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!,' and numerous network productions across ABC, CBS, NBC, The CW and Fox.
