Micah Magee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Film and Media Arts at Temple University's School of Theater, Film and Media Arts. Her professional work spans narrative filmmaking, screenwriting, and film production. She is best known for her feature film PETTING ZOO, which premiered at the Berlinale and garnered multiple international awards, including Best Film, Directing, and Acting accolades. The film was theatrically released across Europe and distributed on Netflix in the U.S. Her short film COMING HOME won the German Academy Award.
Magee co-founded Berlin-based production company Makrorama in 2009, focusing on developing and producing innovative works by emerging filmmakers. Notably, she co-wrote and produced DEATH ON THE STREETS, which premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in 2021. Her teaching spans institutions such as Harvard University, the European Film College (Denmark), the Swedish Art Academy in Umeå, and the DFFB in Berlin.
Awards and recognition for her work include festival honors at Berlinale, IFFR, and others, reflecting her impact on contemporary narrative cinema and international film culture.
