Bettina Backman is a part-time Research Fellow at the Deakin University within the School of Health and Social Development, Faculty of Health. She is also a full-time PhD candidate at the Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition (GLOBE), focusing on sustainable healthy food environments and health equity. Her work bridges public health, nutrition, and food systems research.

Bettina supervises masters and honours students in health promotion and public health, while also serving as a casual marker for public health units. She contributes to projects like the Store Scout tool adaptation for food service environments, aiming to enhance food environment monitoring.
