Berfin Ataman

Berfin Ataman is a lecturer at the Design Media Arts Department, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She is currently continuing her research on dynamic structures at MIT's School of Architecture + Planning. Her work explores human interactions with non-human environments through technology, focusing on kinetic sculptures and interactive installations.

Education: BFA in Theatre Design (University of Southern California), Post-Baccalaureate (School of the Art Institute of Chicago), MFA in Design Media Arts (UCLA).

Research interests include anthropomorphization of mechanical systems, architectural mutualism, and the psychological impact of motion on human perception. Notable projects include the 'Sympathetic Motion Series' and 'Displaced,' which investigate human-object relationships through responsive kinetic art.

Awards include the Design Award from the Architecture and Design Museum for her contributions to interactive art.
