Amie McNeel is an Associate Professor in the 3D4M program (Ceramics, Glass, Sculpture) at the University of Washington's School of Art + Art History + Design within the College of Arts and Sciences. Her work explores natural themes through mixed media, including wood, glass, clay, steel, and drawings. She is a tenured faculty member and former graduate thesis adviser, contributing to facility development within the 3D4M department alongside colleague Mark Zirpel.

Research Interests: McNeel’s practice bridges human interaction with organic and physical environments. Her work investigates materiality, buoyancy, and environmental dynamics through installations and public art projects.

Teaching & Leadership: McNeel has held roles as Chair of Sculpture at the Cleveland Institute of Art, Head of Inter-Media Sculpture at the University of Utah, and taught at institutions including the University of Texas and Cranbrook Academy. She emphasizes technical mastery and conceptual clarity in pedagogy.
Public Engagement: Her residencies include the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Corning Museum of Glass, and Pilchuck Glass School. Notable exhibitions include Portfolio of Possibilities (2016) and Below the Surface/In Midair (1999). Public art projects include the Euclid Corridor Transportation Project sculpture and Superior Streetscape installation.
