Benjamin Oliver

Benjamin Oliver is an Associate Professor at the University of Southampton, serving as co-lead for the AHRC Hub for Public Engagement with Music Research. His roles include teaching composition, conducting, and ensemble performance across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including supervising MMus portfolios and PhD projects. He collaborates with ensembles such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Riot Ensemble, and his works have been performed internationally, broadcast on BBC Radio 3, and released on labels like Linn and Prima Facie.

• Current Projects: Saxophone-accordion duo collaboration, Myanmar artist film works, and the UK premiere of Pythagoras' Toolkit in 2025

Benjamin’s recent works include pieces for toy pianist Dorothy Chan and poet Luke Wright. He has led community music initiatives with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and presented at conferences like Integration and Switches (2017) and Hearing HIV (2018).
