معرفی
Benjamin Brock is a Reader in Remote Sensing at Northumbria University since 2011. Previously, he served as a Senior Lecturer and Lecturer (1996–2011) at the University of Dundee, and as an Affiliated Lecturer in Geography (1995–1996) at the University of Cambridge. His expertise spans physical geography, with a focus on glacier-climate relationships, remote sensing techniques, and debris-covered glaciers. He holds a PhD in Geography (1992) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA, 2001).
His research interests include remote sensing applications for snow and ice melt modeling, meteorology in upland environments, and the geomorphological impacts of volcano-ice interactions. He has contributed to studies on the Quaternary evolution of glaciated landscapes and the hydrological behavior of debris-covered glaciers.
Key publications focus on energy balance modeling of debris-covered glaciers, supraglacial debris dynamics, and climate reanalysis data integration. His work bridges glaciology, climatology, and remote sensing, with fieldwork in regions like the Karakoram, European Alps, and Patagonia.
Brock’s scientific awards include the FHEA distinction, recognizing his contributions to higher education. His research has implications for understanding climate change impacts on mountain glaciers and water resources.
