Dr Becky Leung is a Lecturer in Policing at York Business School, York St John University. She holds a PhD in Law from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (2020) and is a former Fulbright Scholar. Her work bridges law, psychology, and criminology, focusing on defendants with psychosocial disabilities, protest policing, and mental health among first responders. She teaches policing, criminal justice, and criminology at undergraduate and practitioner-training levels.
Education: PhD in Law (The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 2020).
Research interests include:
- Experiences of defendants with psychosocial disabilities in criminal justice systems
- Ethics of protest policing
- Compassion fatigue mitigation strategies for law enforcement
- Mindfulness practices for public safety professionals
Professional activities include facilitator training for the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program and ongoing Prison Yoga Foundation training. She joined York St John University in 2022 to advance transformative educational programs in criminal justice.
