Dr. Charlotte Walker is a Lecturer in Social Sciences at York St John University, specializing in criminal courts and unrepresented defendants. She holds a PhD from the University of Sheffield and teaches modules like Prisons and Penology, Social Research Methods, and Advanced Research Methods. Her research focuses on defendant experiences, procedural justice, and access to justice, supported by ESRC funding. She serves as Widening Participation Officer, Appeals and Conduct Committee member, and Research Ethics Committee member at York St John. Her professional activities include external examining at Liverpool John Moores University and involvement in the British Society of Criminology’s Vulnerability Research Network.
