Prof. Beate Kampmann is the Scientific Director of the Charité Center for Global Health and holds a tenured W3 Professorship in Global Health at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. She leads the Institute for International Health and co-leads the new Charité Center for Global Health with Prof. Christian Drosten. Previously, she held roles at Imperial College London and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), including Professor in Pediatric Infection & Immunity and Director of The Vaccine Center.
Her expertise spans pediatric infectious diseases, vaccinology, and immune responses to tuberculosis (TB) and HIV. She leads global research programs on maternal immunization and directs the MRC-funded IMPRINT network. Key achievements include the President’s Medal (2015) and Fellowships from the Academy of Medical Sciences (2020) and the West African College of Physicians (2020).
Prof. Kampmann’s research is funded by major institutions like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), and the EU. She has spearheaded studies in the UK and West Africa on maternal and neonatal immunization challenges, contributing to international symposiums like INMIS.
