Harriet Ruysen is a Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) within the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology and International Health under the Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health. She is a midwife with clinical experience in the UK, New Zealand, and humanitarian settings like Somaliland and the Democratic Republic of Congo through Médecins Sans Frontières.

- Postgraduate Certificate in International Learning and Teaching, LSHTM (2018-2019)
Her research focuses on improving maternal and newborn care quality in low-resource and humanitarian contexts. She leads work on developing feasible metrics for maternal and newborn health as part of the Every Newborn Action Plan (ENAP) Metrics team with the World Health Organization (WHO), targeting <12 newborn deaths and stillbirths per 1000 births by 2030. Her methodological expertise includes qualitative and mixed-methods research.
