Barbara A. Bradley is a Professor of Reading Education and Program Coordinator for Elementary Education at The University of Kansas. She joined the faculty in 2004, holding degrees from SUNY Stony Brook (B.S.), Adelphi University (M.A.), and the University of Georgia (Ph.D.). Her research focuses on early literacy, language development, and book-sharing practices with informational texts. She co-authored Revitalizing Read Alouds and pioneered design-based research methodologies. Bradley directs a 4-week summer study abroad program in Carpi, Italy, since its inception, emphasizing cross-cultural education and pre-service teacher development.
Teaching includes undergraduate courses on literacy instruction and graduate courses on early literacy, comprehension, and research. She serves on the editorial board of Reading Research Quarterly.
Her awards include the Andrew Heiskell Award for Study Abroad Innovation (2009) and early career recognition from AERA. Research spans journals like Early Childhood Research Quarterly and Journal of Literacy Research.
