BAŞAK CAN is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Beykent University's School of Health Sciences. She holds a doctorate from Ankara Medipol University's Institute of Health Sciences where her thesis focused on cereal products produced with Padina pavonica. Previously, she earned a degree from Istanbul Medipol University's Institute of Health Sciences with research on preschool children's dairy consumption, and completed her undergraduate studies at Istanbul Medipol University's Faculty of Health Sciences.
Her research interests span Nutrition Science, Dietetics, and Food Science with specific emphasis on gluten-free products, child nutrition, and sustainable food literacy. Dr. CAN's work demonstrates particular expertise in nutritional analysis of food products, dietary patterns in preschool children, and the application of nutritional scoring systems.
Her recent publications reveal a strong focus on gluten-free product analysis, sustainable food literacy with gender differences, and preschool children's nutrition patterns in the Thrace region of Turkey. Her research consistently applies rigorous nutritional assessment methodologies to practical dietary concerns.
Dr. CAN has held significant administrative roles including Assistant Faculty Internship Coordinator, Education and Training Support Coordination, and Assistant Faculty Website Coordinator at Istanbul Gelisim University. Prior to her current position, she served as Department Head at Istanbul Sisli Vocational School and taught courses including Food Hygiene, History of Gastronomy, Chopping and Cooking Techniques, and Nutrition Principles.
