معرفی
Aya Abdallah is a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford's Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, working within Carlyle's lab as part of the GSK IMCM project. She earned her PhD in 2024 from the University of Aberdeen, focusing on Omega-3 endocannabinoids and their role in neuroinflammation-driven central neuropathic pain (CNP) following spinal cord injury. Her doctoral research highlighted the significance of glial activation and neuron-glia crosstalk in CNP development.
- Education:
- PhD in Neuroscience (2024), University of Aberdeen
Current Work: Aya is developing biomarkers for stratifying Alzheimer's Disease (AD) patients by analyzing proteins in biofluids and brain tissue. Her goal is to personalize AD treatment through proteomic insights.
Research Interests:
- Neuroinflammation and neuropathic pain mechanisms
- Biomarker discovery for neurodegenerative diseases
- Immunotherapy development for Alzheimer's disease
- Neuron-glia interactions in CNS disorders
- Advanced proteomic techniques (e.g., SIMOA)
- Translational neuroscience bridging molecular and clinical research
Past Collaboration: During her PhD, she worked part-time at the Scottish Biologics Facility with TauRx Therapeutics Ltd., contributing to AD antibody development using SIMOA technology.
