Awube Menlah

Awube Menlah is a dedicated nursing and midwifery educator currently serving as a lecturer and coordinator of the midwifery program at Valley View University, Ghana's premier private university. She brings over 20 years of clinical experience in Nurse-Anaesthesia from both urban and rural Ghanaian healthcare settings to her academic role.

Her educational journey includes a Diploma in General Nursing, an Advanced Diploma in Nurse-Anaesthesia from the 37 Military School of Anaesthesia (2007), a BSc in Nursing with First Class Honours from the University of Cape Coast (2012), and a Master's degree from the same institution (2014). She is currently completing her PhD at Charles Darwin University with a thesis expected in 2025.

Dr. Menlah's research focuses primarily on pain management across multiple contexts - surgical, postoperative, and particularly during labor. Her work addresses critical healthcare challenges in Ghanaian settings, with emphasis on resource-appropriate solutions that can improve patient outcomes. She has published extensively on women's health, nursing education, palliative care, and healthcare delivery challenges in Ghana.

Her research portfolio demonstrates a consistent focus on vulnerable populations and practical healthcare solutions within Ghana's resource-constrained environment. Recent publications show increasing specialization in women's health issues, particularly pain management during labor and cervical cancer screening experiences.

As Principal Investigator for her PhD research on sterile water injection for labor pain management, Dr. Menlah is actively contributing to evidence-based practice in Ghanaian midwifery.
