Austin Pratt is an artist, curator, and educator at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). He holds roles as Curator & Manager of University Galleries, Teaching Professor in the MFA-Interdisciplinary Art Program, and Instructor in Studio Art. His work spans painting, curatorial practice, and music with Spitting Image, exploring themes of perception, ecology, and fragmented patterns.
Education: MFA in Painting & Drawing from the University of Tennessee, and BFA in Painting from UNR.
Research interests include visual art’s intersection with perception psychology, ecology, and collaborative practices. Notable exhibitions include solo shows at Great Basin National Park (2021), Ewing Gallery (2019), and group exhibitions such as Between Earth and Sky (2023). Awards include the Nevada Arts Council Visual Artist Fellowship.
Teaches courses in Painting, Drawing, Gallery Practices, and MFA seminars. Leads the low-residency MFA program at UNR-Lake Tahoe. Curatorial highlights include Toward a Tangled Turn and Holding Pattern (2022). His music project Spitting Image released Full Sun via Slovenly Recordings (2023).
