Ashutosh Shukla, Ph.D., is a Researcher and Instructor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, affiliated with the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. He holds a master's in biochemistry from the University of Hyderabad and a doctorate in chromatin/transcription biology from the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship under Ivan D'Orso at UT Southwestern (2018–2023), he joined the faculty in 2023.
His research focuses on chromatin biology, transcriptional regulation, and their roles in diseases such as cancer and viral infections. Key areas include microbiome-driven colorectal polyposis prediction, oncogenic transcription programs, and HIV latency mechanisms. He employs yeast and mammalian systems to study RNA polymerase III dynamics, epigenetic modifications, and host-pathogen interactions.
Shukla’s work bridges basic molecular mechanisms with clinical applications, particularly in gastrointestinal and liver diseases. His recent studies highlight microbiota-metabolite interactions, viral genome engineering, and chromatin remodeling pathways. Despite no listed awards or grants, his publications underscore contributions to understanding transcriptional regulation in health and disease.
