Ashley Apple

Ashley Apple is an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Nursing, where she leads the Accelerated Two-Year BSN Transfer program. She is a triple 'Hoo (BSN, MSN, DNP from UVA) and a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Her roles include commissioner on government relations for the Virginia Nurses Association and leader of the Virginia Legislative Nursing Alliance, advocating for equitable healthcare policies. She actively engages in clinical practice in pediatric urgent care.

Her research focuses on experiential learning in policy advocacy, vulnerable populations, and evidence-based public health. She designs curricula integrating legislative engagement, such as a 2021 program for nursing students examining health disparities through legislative sessions.

Her scholarly work includes contributions to Public Health Nursing: Population-Centered Health Care (2024) and presentations on ethical nursing practices in emergency care (2018).

Apple advises students across clinical settings, including low-resourced communities, schools, and shelters. She chairs the BSN program committee at UVA Nursing and serves on the General Faculty Council.
