Arkadiusz Karol Bereza

Arkadiusz Karol Bereza is a Professor at the Faculty of Law and Administration, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS), and serves as Prorektor ds. ogólnych (Vice-Rector for General Affairs) since 2014. He leads the Department of Information Technology Law and Legal Professions and has a habilitation in Legal Sciences (2012). His academic journey began at UMCS, where he studied both Law and History (1992).

Bereza's research spans Legal History, Polish Judicial Systems, and Legal Professions, with a focus on:

• Evolution of Polish courts from the 19th century to modern times
• Legal aid frameworks in Poland and EU countries
• Disciplinary mechanisms in legal self-governance
• Historical analysis of judicial independence and politicization

His Google Scholar publications show a strong emphasis on transnational comparisons (Belgium, France) and interdisciplinary approaches combining law and history.

Scientific recognition includes the prestigious Lublin Scientific Society Award (2017) for his comprehensive monograph on the Supreme Court's 100-year history. His work involves extensive collaboration with legal self-governance bodies, including leadership roles in the Chamber of Legal Advisors and participation in legislative commissions for over 15 years.
