Arkadiusz Bagłajewski

Arkadiusz Bagłajewski is a Professor at the Institute of Linguistics and Literary Studies, Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS). He serves as Director of the Institute and Head of the Department of Polish Literature History, while also being a member of the Council of the Doctoral School for Humanities.

Research Focus: Bagłajewski specializes in Polish Romanticism, with particular emphasis on the works of Zygmunt Krasiński, Juliusz Słowacki, and national Romantic paradigms. His scholarship explores intersections between classical antiquity and Polish Romanticism, national literary traditions, and contemporary literary culture. He has published extensively on 19th-century Polish poetry and modern adaptations of Romantic motifs.

Scientific Contributions: Bagłajewski has authored 6 monographs (including studies on Kornel Ujejski, Krasiński's lyrical works) and over 100 scholarly papers. His editorial leadership includes:

• Editor-in-Chief of literary quarterly Kresy (1995–2010)
• Editorial board member of educational journals (1997–2001)
• Coordinator of literary workshops at Lublin Cultural Center (1996–2024)
