Anthony Aziz and Sammy Cucher are collaborative interdisciplinary artists and faculty members at Parsons School of Design, part of The New School, within the School of Art, Media, and Technology. They have maintained their artistic partnership for over thirty years since meeting as graduate students at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1990. Their work spans mixed media paintings and multi-channel video installations that have been exhibited internationally at prestigious venues including the New Museum in New York, the Venice Biennial, the National Gallery of Berlin, and MASS MoCA.
Their artistic practice explores contemporary themes through innovative visual approaches, with recent work focusing on societal issues and human experience. They received the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation Artist Grant in 2022, which supports their continued development of new series while preparing a major publication celebrating their 30th anniversary of artistic collaboration. Their work has been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions worldwide, demonstrating their significant contribution to contemporary art.
As educators at Parsons for more than twenty years, they remain actively engaged with students and the creative community, finding inspiration in the dynamic environment of the School of Art, Media, and Technology. Their upcoming work was scheduled for presentation at Gazelli Art House Gallery in London in Fall 2022, coinciding with the launch of their retrospective book published by La Fabrica Editions, Madrid.
