Annie Kloppenberg is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Performance, Theater & Dance Department at Colby College. Her work focuses on improvisation and choreography pedagogy, combining theoretical research with performance practice. She teaches and collaborates nationally with the Improvisational trio Like You Mean It, and her performance project Foreword/Afterword has been presented globally. Kloppenberg’s choreography has been showcased at venues such as Movement Research (Judson Church), The 92nd St Y, and Bates College, among others.
Education:
- B.A., Middlebury College: Dance and American Civilization
- M.F.A., The Ohio State University: Choreography
Research & Performance Interests: Dance history, contemporary choreography, interdisciplinary collaboration, and improvisation. She explores pedagogical frameworks for choreographic practice and has published in Dance Chronicle and Kinebago.
