Anni Donaldson serves as Knowledge Exchange Fellow and Equally Safe in Higher Education (ESHE) lead at the University of Strathclyde's School of Social Work & Social Policy within the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. She joined the university staff in 2016 after an initial secondment, building on a decades-long association that began with her 1986 postgraduate diploma at Strathclyde.
Her academic background includes:
- Postgraduate Diploma, University of Strathclyde (1986)
- PhD candidate, University of Strathclyde (enrolled 2010, ongoing)
Donaldson's research centers on gender-based violence prevention in higher education contexts, with specific expertise in domestic abuse curriculum development for social work education. As ESHE project lead, she pioneers knowledge exchange methodologies that transform research into campus safety interventions through Scottish Government-funded initiatives. Her work bridges social policy theory and practical implementation across university systems.
The ESHE project achieved significant first-year milestones including formal endorsement from the university's Equality and Diversity Strategy Committee, securing continued funding through 2017. Donaldson emphasizes Strathclyde's collaborative culture as essential for her time-bound project's success, leveraging cross-departmental partnerships to address systemic violence while maintaining flexible working arrangements that support her doctoral completion.
