Anne Suryani is a Senior Research Fellow in the Faculty of Education at Monash University, affiliated with the School of Educational Psychology & Counselling. She holds a PhD in Educational Psychology and is actively engaged in research on teacher education, motivation, and policy, with a regional focus on the Asia-Pacific.

Her research interests center on teacher motivation, teacher education, professional development, religion and education, and educational policy. She employs strong quantitative and cross-cultural methodologies, particularly in large-scale survey design and longitudinal studies. Her monograph ‘Embracing diversity: Preparing future teachers to foster religious tolerance’ explores how religious beliefs shape pedagogical views among Indonesian student teachers.
The recent articles highlight a growing focus on cultural-historical approaches in early childhood science education, digital methodologies in professional development, and teacher motivation in Southeast Asia. These works reflect interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly with Professor Marilyn Fleer, and contribute to advancing evidence-based teaching practices.

Anne Suryani is a primary investigator on multiple research grants, including the LIFT Studies initiative and national workforce strategy projects. She supervises HDR students and participates in external advisory and mentoring roles. Her work in peer review and editorial responsibilities spans journals such as Educational and Developmental Psychologist and The Teacher Educator.
She is a key contributor to the Leading to Improve Future Teachers (LIFT) Studies and has led projects in Indonesia and Australia, including curriculum development and workforce wellbeing. She has delivered keynotes, such as at the SEAMEO Webinar Series, and contributes to public discourse through media and blogs on student motivation and home learning challenges.
