Anne Murphy is an Associate Tutor and PhD researcher in the School of Social Work at the University of East Anglia. She holds a dual role as a Visiting Researcher in the same school. Her research focuses on adoptive parenting experiences and qualitative longitudinal methodologies. She advises on qualifying programmes within the school and has a background in social work practice and policy.
Education includes a BA in English and Drama from Queen Mary, University of London, followed by an MA in Social Work from UEA. She transitioned from residential care and local authority roles to voluntary sector work in adoption and fostering. Her PhD, funded by the SeNSS ESRC studentship, explores prospective adoptive parents' experiences through Preparation to Adopt courses.
Her recent research addresses adoption policy disruptions, digital technology in child welfare during the pandemic, and family reunification ethics.
