Anne Gerritsen is Professor of History at the University of Warwick and holds the Chair of Asian Art at Leiden University since 2018, sponsored by several foundations. She directs Warwick's Global History and Culture Centre and contributes to Leiden's LIAS-LUCAS collaboration.

Her research spans material culture, focusing on late imperial Chinese history, global porcelain circulation (especially Jingdezhen kilns), food cultures in Asia-Europe exchange, and gender in historical contexts. She explores how objects like ceramics and foodstuffs reveal early modern global connections.
Her publications highlight cross-cultural commodity flows, including a 2016 review of Asia Inside Out and a 2013 critique of globalization studies. Her books include The City of Blue and White (2020) and Global Gifts (2018).
Scientific awards include a Wellcome Trust seed grant (2017–2019), Netherlands Institute of Advanced Study Fellowship (2013–14), and UK Arts and Humanities Research Council grants. She supervises MA and PhD theses at Leiden and taught at Warwick until 2018.
