Anne Boiché is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher at the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies, University of Lausanne (UNIL), specializing in Postclassical Greek. She previously served as an Assistant Professor for four years in the same field before transitioning to her current role in August 2025. Boiché is a renowned specialist in Greek language and literature, with a particular focus on religious and philosophical texts from the imperial period, especially those of Philo of Alexandria.
Research Interests: Her work explores how Philo integrates biblical language with Greek philosophical terminology to renew the Greek philosophical lexicon. Key areas include:
- Hellenistic Jewish exegesis
- Religious and philosophical syncretism
- Allegorical interpretation
- Dream analysis in antiquity
- Development of theological metaphors
Academic Contributions: Her publications and conferences examine Philo's hermeneutic methods, such as the analysis of Genesis (e.g., De Cherubim), dream symbolism in De somniis, and metaphor adaptation. She co-organized major events like the 2024 conference on negative theology at the University of Fribourg and the 2023 IRSB study days on ethics of friendship.
Affiliations: Associate member of the "Classical and Late Antiquity" team at the Orient et Méditerranée laboratory (Paris) and chair of the Swiss Patristic Studies Group since 2024.
