Anna Małgorzewicz is Professor of Humanities in linguistics at the University of Wrocław, serving as Head of the Department of Translation Studies and Glottodidactics within the Faculty of Modern Languages. She concurrently holds positions as Deputy Chairman of the Disciplinary Council for Linguistics and Head of Postgraduate Studies in German Language Translators.
Her academic credentials include Germanic Philology studies at the University of Wrocław and Humboldt University of Berlin (1989-1994), a PhD (1999), and habilitation in linguistics (2013). By presidential decree dated February 3, 2025, she was awarded the title of professor of humanities. She has been a continuous researcher and lecturer at the University since 1994.
Professor Małgorzewicz's research spans translation theory, meta-scientific frameworks in translation studies, language teaching methodologies (translodidactics and glottodidactics), and cognitive/textual linguistics. Her work integrates theoretical linguistics with practical translation pedagogy, emphasizing cognitive processes in language transfer and specialized didactic applications.
She founded and serves as editor-in-chief of Studia Translatorica and the Landscapes of Translation book series, co-edited Germanica Wratislaviensia (2016-2024), and sits on editorial boards of Kwartalnik Neophilologiczny, Studia Linguistica, Applied Linguistics Papers, and Rocznik Przekładoznawczy.
As an academic leader, she established the Postgraduate Studies in German Translation (2003-present), founded the Translation Department (2008), and restructured it into the Department of Translation and Language Teaching (2016). She organizes the international Summer Transl School and major conferences like the 2025 "Henryk Bereska – a Man in Dazwischen" event.
Her institutional service includes membership on the Polish Accreditation Committee (2024-2027), leadership in the University Commission for Quality of Education (2024-2028), and vice-chair roles in the International Academy for Translation and Interpreting (IATI), Association of Polish Germanists, Polish Society of Applied Linguistics, and Interdisciplinary Semantics Forum.
