Ann Pegoraro is a Professor in the Department of Management at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, University of Guelph. She serves as the Lang Chair in Sport Management, Director of the International Institute for Sport Business & Leadership, and Co-Director of the National Network for Research on Gender Equity in Canadian Sport. Her work bridges sport marketing, digital media, and gender equity, with a focus on consumer behavior and communication strategies in sports.
Her research spans the use of digital platforms to connect with sport consumers, crisis communication in sports, and advocacy for diversity and inclusion. She has published extensively in journals like Sex Roles, Communication and Sport, and Journal of Sport Management, emphasizing analytics, gender, and diversity. Her presentations at conferences such as the North American Society for Sport Management and the Sport Canada Research Initiative highlight her leadership in advancing women’s roles in sports.
Dr. Pegoraro’s collaborations with graduate students on topics like athlete activism, digital brand launches, and motherhood in sports underscore her mentorship in the field. She holds a Ph.D. in Sport Management from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and degrees in Business Administration and Public Administration from Laurentian University, alongside a B.A. in Geography/Economics.
