Anita Kay Head is an Associate Professor of Legal Writing and Assistant Dean for Students at the University of Alabama School of Law. She joined the faculty in 2012, teaching legal writing, moot court, and coaching ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition teams. As Assistant Dean, she oversees academic support programs and the honor council.

- Speaker in the Supreme Court of Alabama’s Appellate Advocacy CLE program
- Officer in the Women’s Section of the Alabama State Bar
Her research interests focus on legal writing pedagogy and appellate advocacy, with practical applications in legal education and professional skills development.
Professor Head earned her B.A. in Music from the University of Mississippi, followed by a magna cum laude J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law, where she served as lead editor of the Journal of the Legal Profession and participated in the National Moot Court Team.

Before academia, she clerked for Justice Harold See on the Supreme Court of Alabama and practiced law at Johnston, Barton, Proctor & Rose LLP in Birmingham for five years.
Her professional work combines legal education, competition coaching, and administrative leadership in academic support programs.
