Professor Anh Tran is a Professor of Finance at Bayes Business School, part of City St George's, University of London. He serves as Academic Director of the M&A Research Centre and has held academic roles since 2010, progressing from Lecturer to his current rank. His research focuses on empirical corporate finance, including M&A, corporate governance, and executive compensation. He has published in top journals like the Journal of Financial Economics and frequently presents at international conferences.
Tran holds a PhD from Drexel University. Beyond academia, he is a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy, UKRI Talent Panel College member, and Fellow of the Gupta Governance Institute. He has received multiple awards, including the University's 'Staff Prize for Outstanding Research' (2013) and three Business School 'Excellent Research Publication Awards'.
His teaching spans corporate finance, M&A, and valuation at undergraduate, MSc, and executive education levels. He has supervised numerous students and served as an external examiner and assessor across global universities. Research findings have influenced public policy and been featured in major media outlets like the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times.
Tran is on leave as a Visiting Professor at London Business School from September 2024 to August 2025. He is also a founding member and Vice President of the Vietnam Finance Association International.
