Angeline Jeyakumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition at the University of Nevada, Reno. She joined in 2023 as the Nutrition Specialist for northern Nevada, where she designs community-based interventions to reduce chronic-disease risks in Washoe County. Her work involves statewide collaborations and international research partnerships focusing on food security, nutrition transition, and dietary behaviors in underserved populations.
Previously, at Savitribai Phule Pune University (India), she taught postgraduate courses, coordinated the Integrative Dietetics Program, and led maternal-child health research on micronutrient deficiencies and undernutrition interventions.
Her research interests include:
- Maternal and Child Health: Epidemiology of undernutrition, micronutrient deficiencies (especially iron/Vitamin D), and longitudinal intervention studies.
- Public Health Nutrition: Food security, chronic-disease prevention, and nutrition-sensitive interventions in low-resource settings.
- Global Nutrition Challenges: Double burden of malnutrition, nutrition transition dynamics, and tribal health disparities.
