Angela Sheerin

Dr. Angela Sheerin is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Brighton's School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, affiliated with the Centre for Lifelong Health. She holds roles such as Course Leader for the MRes Biomedical Sciences and Biological Safety Officer. Her research focuses on cellular senescence, aging disorders (e.g., Alzheimer's, COPD), and UTI impacts on dementia patients. She collaborates with NHS and academic institutions to bridge clinical and research gaps.

Education: BSc (Hons) Biochemistry from the University of East London (1996), PhD in Molecular Gerontology from the University of Sunderland (2002). She has supervised numerous PhD and postgraduate students, exploring topics like resveratrol analogues, senolytics, and Klebsiella pathogenicity.

Teaching emphasizes hands-on learning and innovative methods, including animations and flipped classrooms. She founded the A* Science outreach program for primary schools.
