Angela Doehring

Dr. Angela Doehring is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Exercise Science at the School of Health Sciences, University of Illinois Springfield, where she has been a faculty member since 2016. Her expertise spans aging, physical activity, health promotion, gerontology, and teaching scholarship.

• Ph.D. in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention/Gerontology from Purdue University
• Master of Science in Exercise Science from Northeastern Illinois University
• Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Wellness from Ball State University

Her research focuses on health promotion, behavior change, and quality of life improvements for aging populations. She also emphasizes the scholarship of teaching and learning, integrating innovative methods into undergraduate courses.

Dr. Doehring has held both full-time and part-time faculty positions previously and brings practical experience from the health and fitness industry, including roles in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Personal Fitness Training.

She actively contributes to health advocacy, having testified before an IL House Committee on SB2572 (physical activity/education legislation) and serves as an Advocate for organizations like the American Heart Association and the Alzheimer’s Association.

As a DPI Affiliate, she collaborates with Discovery Partners Institute initiatives. Her teaching portfolio includes diverse undergraduate courses such as Exercise Physiology, Health Coaching, and Research Methods for Health Promotion.
