Andrew Lewis is a Principal Investigator and Research Professor at the Radcliffe Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, and an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the Oxford Heart Centre. He leads a research group focused on advanced imaging techniques and metabolic pathways in cardiovascular disease, particularly heart failure and diabetes. His work integrates human cells, tissue samples, and non-invasive imaging to bridge experimental and clinical insights. He holds the BHF Intermediate Clinical Research Fellowship and is a Kemp Postdoctoral Fellow at Lincoln College.
Education & Career:
- Completed doctoral research in translational cardiovascular imaging under Prof. Stefan Neubauer.
- Clinical Lecturer at Oxford (prior role).
- Post-doctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital under Prof. Matthias Nahrendorf.
Research Interests:
- Development of spatial cardiology techniques across scales (subcellular to whole-heart).
- Metabolic and immunological pathways in heart failure, with emphasis on sex differences and obesity-cardiac interactions.
- Translational applications of hyperpolarized MRI and multi-modal imaging.
Publications & Awards:
- Recent work focuses on HFpEF mechanisms, metabolic flexibility, and drug efficacy in diabetic cardiomyopathy.
- Awards include BHF Intermediate Fellowship, FRCP, FESC, and the Kemp Fellowship.
Collaborations & Labs:
- Active partnerships with academia and industry for interdisciplinary projects.
