معرفی
Oliver Rider is a Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Oxford and a British Heart Foundation Senior Clinical Research Fellow. He serves as Deputy Clinical Director of the Oxford Centre for Clinical Magnetic Resonance Research (OCMR) and as an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist. His research focuses on the interplay between myocardial metabolism, cardiac energetics, and function in diseases like heart failure, obesity, and diabetes.
- Education: BA (hons), BMBCh (hons), DPhil (Oxon)
- Professional Affiliations: Pembroke College, OCMR, Neubauer Group, Rider Group
- Key Research Themes: Cardiometabolic syndromes, obesity-related heart disease, hyperpolarized MRI techniques
Rider's work spans clinical and translational research, utilizing advanced CMR imaging and spectroscopy to explore metabolic flexibility, myocardial energetics, and novel therapies like bariatric surgery and cardiac mitotropes. His group has pioneered studies on hyperpolarized [1-13C]pyruvate MRI and the role of cardiac metabolism in heart failure progression.
Rider has received prestigious awards including the American Heart Association Young Investigator Award (2008), BHF/BCS Michael Davies Early Career Award (2019), and consecutive BHF Clinical Research Fellowships (2016-2022, 2022-present). His current research includes the AMEND Preserved trial, testing low-energy diets for HFpEF patients.
