Andrew Garbarino serves as a Visiting Lecturer in Biblical Studies and DMin Program Coordinator at Houston Christian University's School of Christian Thought. He is a PhD Candidate in Biblical Studies (Old Testament) at Princeton Theological Seminary (expected 2025), with an MDiv from Princeton and an AB from Harvard College. His teaching focuses on biblical languages (Hebrew/Greek), Second Temple Judaism, and biblical doctrines.
Garbarino's research specializes in biblical Hebrew poetry, integrating philological, literary, and comparative methods. His dissertation explores sublime aesthetics in the Psalms. Additional research interests include text criticism, Ugaritic studies, and theological engagement with contemporary sci-fi/fantasy literature. He is an ordained Minister in the Reformed Church in America (RCA), blending academic rigor with pastoral and urban ministry commitments.
His recent work includes peer-reviewed articles on textual criticism and patristic exegesis, conference presentations on Psalms' sublimity and cosmological metaphors, and creative theological analyses of modern artists like Sufjan Stevens. Garbarino actively participates in the Society of Biblical Literature annual meetings, presenting innovative interpretations of biblical texts.
He teaches courses such as Introduction to Biblical Greek/Hebrew, Intermediate Hebrew, and Second Temple Judaism. His academic service includes coordinating the DMin program and contributing to Houston's theological community through campus and city-based initiatives.
