Andrew C. Spiropoulos is the Robert S. Kerr Sr. Professor of Constitutional Law at Oklahoma City University School of Law, where he teaches Constitutional Law, Legislation, State and Local Government, and Legal Analysis. He previously served as Senior Counselor to the Oklahoma House Speaker (2005-2006), clerked for Sixth Circuit Judge Danny Boggs, practiced law with Gardner, Carton & Douglas, and was a Heritage Foundation Salvatori Fellow. He holds B.A. (Carleton College), M.A. and J.D. (University of Chicago) degrees, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. Spiropoulos directs the Center for the Study of State Constitutional Law & Government and authored the Uniform Interstate Enforcement of Domestic-Violence Protection Orders Act.
His research focuses on constitutional interpretation, state governance structures, and legal pedagogy. Notable areas include federalism dynamics, legislative process optimization, and critiques of originalist methodologies. His 2011 Milton Friedman Fellowship reflects recognition in public policy thought.
Recent publications (2021-2002) explore topics ranging from Tocqueville's democratic theory applications to workers' compensation reform, demonstrating engagement with both theoretical jurisprudence and practical governance challenges. Spiropoulos maintains affiliations with the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs and has contributed to debates on executive power, state constitutional frameworks, and legal ethics in governmental litigation practices.
