Brian C. Kalt is a Professor of Law and Harold Norris Faculty Scholar at Michigan State University College of Law. He joined MSU in 2000 after serving as a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and working as an associate at Sidley Austin in Washington D.C.
His research focuses on structural constitutional law, particularly provisions related to the presidency (elections, impeachment, pardons, and the 25th Amendment), as well as jury-related legal issues. His work on the impeachment of ex-presidents gained national attention and was cited during the second impeachment of President Trump.
Kalt has also held visiting positions at the University of Alabama, University of Ottawa, and Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania. He is admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the District of Columbia and Sixth Circuits.
