Professor Andreas Schroeder is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at Aston University's College of Business and Social Sciences. His research focuses on leveraging information technology (IT) for business growth, particularly in servitization and advanced services. He has extensive industry experience in chemical engineering project management and holds a PhD from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. His work emphasizes data valorization in IoT-enabled servitized products, exploring how manufacturers can derive strategic insights from in-use data.
Teaching responsibilities include modules on e-commerce, global IT management, databases, and project supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He leads the Advanced Service Group (ASG), focusing on servitization's impact on economic productivity and environmental performance. Key collaborations include European Horizon 2020 projects and ERDF-funded initiatives targeting SME growth through advanced services.
Recent research addresses servitization's role in complex adaptive systems, digital twins, and transactive memory systems in distributed IT teams. Over £7M in secured funding includes leadership in the £3.5M CircEUit project and a £1.85M ESRC grant examining servitization's macroeconomic impacts.
